My hands are stained red from some of the crushed petals, and they smell of earth and newrose, a sharp-flower smell that i like in spite of my mother’s comments. What’s wrong with being durable? What’s wrong with being something, someone, that lasts? So I didn’t create anything, after all. I did what I was told and something beautiful happened. Matched, pg. 145
